Northern Lights Hunting in Rovaniemi with 100% Guarantee

Experience a real Northern Lights hunt in small groups with a local guide who goes wherever the skies are clear — no unnecessary weather cancellations. If the Aurora doesn’t appear in your photos, you can rebook another hunt or receive a full refund.

Real Aurora Hunting — Not Just Waiting in One Spot

This is a true Northern Lights hunt, not a standard sightseeing tour. I follow live weather forecasts, cloud movements and Aurora activity throughout the day, and drive wherever the skies are clearest — even across the border if needed — to maximise your chances.

Small Groups and Personal Experience

I only take small groups, which means more flexibility, more comfort and a much more personal experience. There’s no rushing, no big bus crowds and no fixed route — the night is built around giving you the best possible chance to enjoy the Aurora.

Fair Guarantee and Local Expertise

I’ve lived in Lapland my whole life and have spent years capturing the Northern Lights through photography and video before guiding guests on Aurora hunts. This local knowledge and hands-on experience help me give you the best possible chance to witness and photograph the Northern Lights.

If the Aurora doesn’t appear in your photos, you can rebook another hunt or receive a full refund.

Honest approach — no false promises

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed by anyone. What I can guarantee is that I will do everything possible to maximise your chances — using experience, real-time data and local knowledge — and treat you fairly if nature doesn’t cooperate, by offering another hunt or a full refund.

WHAT MY GUESTS SAY?

4.9/5 based on 15 reviews

”I think this is the only place that offers an aurora tour that is never canceled. If you only have a few days to stay and absolutely want to see the northern lights, even if the weather is bad, I highly recommend this tour! Even though it's expensive, it's totally worth it! Our guide was an expert in aurora hunting and took us on a four-hour one-way trip to Sweden, where we successfully saw the aurora. It will be a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life!”

- GYG traveler from Japan

The tour guide was very nice and friendly. Although the weather was not good, he was very responsible in taking us around to look for the aurora.

啟業– Spain

”An excellent experience. Timo drove for hours until we found a spot with no clouds or fog, where we were able to enjoy a spectacular aurora borealis. His tenacity, experience, and kindness were essential for witnessing such a magnificent sight. Furthermore, during our travels, we had very interesting conversations about the aurora borealis, the wildlife, and daily life in Finland. I highly recommend this experience with Timo.”

César – Spain

”I had the absolute pleasure of doing this tour with Timo! He is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and he explains everything about the area while also making great conversation along the way. The Korouoma waterfalls were amazing. The snowy landscape and views were definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Finland. A BBQ is included in the trip, which was also delicious.”

Frequently asked questions

Can you really guarantee the Northern Lights?

No one can guarantee the Northern Lights themselves, as they are a natural phenomenon. However, I guarantee that if I’m not able to capture a photo of you with the Aurora during the tour, you can join another hunt for free or receive a full refund.

Where do we go during the hunt?

The route is not fixed. I choose the direction based on real-time weather forecasts, cloud conditions and Aurora activity. We may travel within the Rovaniemi area or further if needed to find clear skies.

What happens if we don’t see the Northern Lights?

If the Aurora doesn’t appear in your photos, you’ll have the option to rebook another available tour at no extra cost. If that doesn’t fit your schedule, you will receive a full refund.

Do I need a camera or photography skills?

No. I take professional photos during the tour, and you will receive your images afterwards. You can simply enjoy the experience without worrying about camera settings if you don't like.

Will the tour be cancelled due to weather?

No. This is a real Aurora hunting experience, which means we actively search for clear skies instead of staying in one location. The tour runs even in cloudy conditions to maximise your chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

However, in rare cases where conditions become unsafe — such as severe storms or extremely icy roads — the tour may be cancelled or rescheduled. Your safety is always the top priority.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes. No prior experience is needed. This tour is designed to be easy and accessible — you just need to join and enjoy the experience.

How long is the tour?

The tour typically lasts around 8 hours, depending on conditions and how far we need to travel to find clear skies.

Where does the tour start?

I will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Rovaniemi, and drop you off after the tour.
